My Story:
As a child I pretty much excelled at everything I put my hand to.
This was both a blessing and a curse.
It was a blessing because I had a lot of “talents” and therefore a lot of “confidence” and therefore a lot of “friends”
It was a curse because it meant I was an arrogant jerk
This all reached its peak when I got to high school got my first taste of “independence”
Through four years of high school I excelled in every way possible. I had tons of friends. I played sports. I got the lead role in many of the plays, and I even maintained a solid GPA.
On the surface I was “happy” and “healthy” and “successful”
My social status was rising higher and higher
But the state of my heart was getting worse and worse
I grew more selfish, more arrogant, and more deceitful by the day
And the worst part?
On the surface I was a “Christian”
I talked about having a “strong faith.”
I put a bible verse on Facebook profile.
I volunteered in the children's ministry at church
But the life I was living outside of that was completely contradictory
I was living as two different people
That all changed the day I got hired to work as a counselor at a Christian theatre summer camp for kids ages 8-18
Why they hired me, I have no idea. But I’m so glad that did, because it changed my life
It was there that I learned to love others, to love myself, and to most importantly, love God
It was there that I learned that my “talents” were not something for me to gloat over. They given to me so I could use them to encourage and inspire people.
It was there that I learned that my trials and struggles were given to me for the same reason
It was there that I learned that other people matter, and that if you show them that they matter, you can drastically alter the course of there life
This is now the driving force behind everything I do. If you are in search of inspiration, if you want to make a difference, or if you are wondering whether you even matter, you are in the right place. Take some time and look around the site. I hope you find some stuff you like, and more importantly, I hope it inspires you to do something.
