With starting being so vital for the creative, it is important to mention that starting is a skill in an of itself. You may be a great piano player, but unless you have developed the skill of starting things, you will find it near impossible to record that album, open that studio, or write that sonata. This is why starting things, even things that don’t work, is so important. It is an art just as much as your piano technique or computer programming is.
So practice starting, and stop waiting for the “right thing” to come along before you do it. Unless you practice starting with a bunch of wrong things, you will never be prepared to start when the right thing comes along.
