My first book was entitled, Authentic Love: Everything I learned about Jesus I learned from a child. Obviously, this title is a bit of an exaggeration. I have learned plenty of things about Jesus from teenagers, adults, and people of all ages, shapes, and sizes.
My friend Zach and I have an on-running joke about what the title of my next book would be. One day, as I was telling Zach some of the things I'd been learning at my new job, he joked, "Everything I learned about Jesus I learned on Broadway." Then, in homage to the credits of 22 Jump Street, we launched into any number of ridiculous titles for my future books.

As silly as this joke is, it is only funny because deep down, under all the humor, it is somewhat true. Underneath our laughter, a profound truth was hiding. The truth is, lessons about who God is and what faith in Jesus looks like are all around us. Surely, the Bible reigns supreme as the source of knowledge when it comes to learning about God. But like any great teacher, God often uses our current circumstances and experiences to reveal to us the depths of His character.
Seeing God move in your life is not necessarily about seeing more miracles, it's about re-training your vision to notice the ones that already exist all around us.
This is a skill that every artist, especially those working for His glory, must learn to cultivate. The ability to notice things, to see the profound lessons within in the mundane, is a pre-requisite for crating relevant, vital, and glorifying art.
