Self-help addiction is a major sign that you are quickly venturing out fo artist territory and into bum status. You’re constantly “learning” or “being inspired”, but never actually sitting down to do anything.
Self-help literature is a lot like nutritional supplements for a bodybuilder. They are not meant to be the sole/main focus. They are meant to SUPPLEMENT the work you should already be doing. A protein shake by itself isn’t going to do much good if you’re not also committed to lifting weights. It may make you “feel” like you’re healthy, but really, it just makes you look sort of bloated.
By virtue of it’s name, self-help literature doesn’t work properly until you start using it to help yourself.
